A creation of, and servant of God was born in Chambers County, Alabama on January 14, 1934, Susie Mae Cox. She was the fifth child of ten born to loving parents, the late Cleve and Bobbie Weaver Varner, Sr.
She revealed to the family at the age of nine years old, God spoke to her, telling her that He chose her to be His advocate – delivering the Word to the multitude, to stand in the “Brink” to shield and protect the souls of the sick the hopeless, helpless, and those needing their strength and prayer to survive among the living or cross over into the after-life with a peaceful soul. Those among the living can truthfully give testimony to the soul-saving mission that God chose for her.
She had a passion to cook and fed, not only the appetite, but God’s Word. God and prayer always protected her through her trials and tribulations, which were many, for all that she made contact with.
She joined Solomon Grove Baptist Church at an early age, and was later baptized by Pastor Chivers at Faith Temple Church on Edgewood Avenue. Still on her mission, she was granted a church charter and as the original charter owner, she founded the Ark Refuge Ministry for Men, located on East Depot Street in LaGrange, GA. She actively spear-headed the division for the women under the same charter which was located on Hill Street in LaGrange. She has served as a social and cultural consultant for many churches and organizations.
She completed the 11th grade at East Depot High School, Nurse Training School in New York; and worked for Playtex, Inc. and WLAG Radio Station in LaGrange.
Susie Mae Cox Lopez was an accomplished Evangelist. Being the original charter holder for “The Ark Refuge Ministry For Men” which was her most “crowning glory” for the mission that God gave her.
She leaves to cherish her legacy of love for God, family, and mankind, three devoted sons, Wendell Jesse Cameron, Darrell (Geraldine) Cox, Warren (Tywanda) Cameron; two loving daughters, Brenda (Roland) Randall, and Vicki Lynn Cox, all of LaGrange, GA; four sisters, Sylvia Ann (Cliff) Rogers, Ellenwood, GA; Rubye Dean McGhee, Jonesboro, GA; Bobbie R.
