Mr. Joe Henry Freeman was born June 13, 1949 in Troup County, Georgia to Mrs. Julia Lucille Kelley Freeman and the late, J. B. Freeman, Sr. He entered into his heavenly rest on July 23, 2010.
He was a member of Canaan Baptist Church, where he joined at an early age.
Joe graduated from Ethel W. Kight High School at the age of 16 and attended Texas College in Tyler, Texas.
He worked for many years with the family loggin business and later became a cab driver for Arrow Cab Company.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Johnny L. Freeman and sister, Juel F. Simpson.
To cherish his memories, he leaves one son, Eric (Tarshemia) Tucker; two loving daughters, Zandra D. Simmons, Buffalo, NY; and Stephanie (Travis) Hopson, LaGrange, GA; eight grandchildren, Shania Woodard, Jaylan Hoson, Nakira Brooks, ShaKaria Woodard, Jeremiah Brooks, Desani Deonza, Delaney Simmons; a caring and loving mother, Mrs. Jullia L. Freeman; four brothers, Gary (Ethel) Freeman, J. B. (Mary) Freeman, Jr., Milton Freeman, and Melvin (Corietha) Easter; one sister, Judy (Willie) Reed; one sister-in-law, Minnie L. Freeman; and one brother-in-law, Gerald Simpson, Sr.; and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
The Celebration of Life Service will be held on Wednesday, July 28, 2010 at noon at Canaan Baptist Church on Highway 219 North; burial will follow at Canaan Cemetery.
The family will be at their home at 5882 Mooty Bridge Road.
